It seems the older I get, the less I have to say about my work. I have been painting in oils since I was ten. It’s in my blood…literally. I love to paint. Period. Even as I write this statement, all I can think about is the panel waiting on the easel for me. I often resent anything that takes me away from the studio (unless it involves visiting Europe, of course). |

I
have been fortunate to travel to Western Europe each year for the past five
years. My husband and I recently spent a month traveling throughout Italy. My
current series of work reveals the influence of Italy with its landscape,
colors, and sensuality. I feel a compulsion to draw a connection between Tuscany
and the Palouse (where I live) without neglecting the metaphor that is ubiquitous
throughout my work. I
have enjoyed the experience and intend to continue exploring the impact that Italy
has made on my life, as we have plans to return there next year. (You can view several
photos of our travels by going to my "links" page.)
